Is It True Not Wearing Underwear Make Us Healthier?

Underwear has become part of our daily clothing. Before wearing clothes, underwear always wraps early. Even when going to bed, some people are reluctant to take off their underwear.

But some people apparently chose not to wear underwear at certain times. Is it true that it is actually healthier?

According to Dr. Alyssa Dweck, obstetrician and gynecologist in Mount Kisco, New York, we do not always need to wear underwear.

According to him, for example for women, the vagina does not need to be completely covered when sleeping. However, some women are reluctant to take risks and choose to sleep with their underwear.


As reported by Dweck, there are advantages to not wearing underwear, for example in women who suffer from chronic vulvitis (inflammation of the folds of the vaginal skin) or chronic vaginitis (inflammation of the vagina).

Women with those diseases are very susceptible to fungal infections, itching, and irritation, so they are better off sleeping without using underwear.

Keep in mind that bacteria and fungi like to develop in a dark, warm and humid place. When women protect their private parts with cloth – especially cloth that does not absorb sweat – this will cause vaginal irritation.

Besides that, the vagina will be moist; this will be an easy target for fungi and bacteria to develop. Removing underwear when sleeping can be an effort to maintain the cleanliness of the genitals.

Initially, it might indeed feel strange when there is no bottom cover. Discomfort, insecurity, and exposure will definitely be felt. But, the vagina also needs to breathe.

If you are interested in trying it, it is important to put your underwear next to the bed just in case there is an emergency situation, such as a fire or earthquake that requires you to leave your room or house.

The advantage of not wearing underwear for men
